Thank you for using Unit Converter. Your privacy is important to us. This policy explains what data we handle, how we use it, and your rights.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Data You Provide

Conversion history and favorites. When you perform a unit conversion or save a favorite unit pair, the values and unit selections are stored locally on your device. This data is used solely to display your recent conversions and saved preferences within the app. It never leaves your device.

1.2 Automatically Collected Information

Currency exchange rates. The app may fetch the latest currency exchange rates from a public API (open.er-api.com) to enable the currency converter feature. This request does not include any personal information, device identifiers, or location data. It is a simple anonymous HTTP request for public exchange-rate data.

1.3 Clipboard Access

The app includes an optional clipboard feature. When you explicitly tap the clipboard button in the toolbar, the app reads the text currently on your system clipboard to check whether it contains a convertible value (e.g. "1.5 km to miles"). The clipboard content is processed entirely on-device and is never stored, transmitted, or shared.

2. How We Use Your Information

All data described above is used exclusively to provide the core functionality of the app:

• Conversion history is displayed in the History tab so you can revisit past calculations.
• Favorite unit pairs are shown in the Favorites tab for quick access.
• Currency rates are cached for one hour to reduce network requests and keep the converter responsive offline.

3. Data Storage and Security

All personal data — your conversion history and favorites — is stored exclusively on your device using the standard UserDefaults mechanism provided by Apple's iOS operating system. This data is included in your device backups (iCloud or local) if you have backup enabled. No data is transmitted to our servers because we do not operate any backend servers for this app.

Cached currency exchange rates are also stored locally on your device and are refreshed periodically when a network connection is available.

4. Your Control

You have full control over your data at all times:

• Clear history: Tap "Clear" in the History tab to permanently delete all conversion records from your device.
• Remove favorites: Swipe to delete any favorite pair, or tap the star icon again in the converter to unfavorite a unit pair.
• Clipboard access: The app only reads the clipboard when you explicitly tap the clipboard toolbar button. It never reads the clipboard automatically or in the background.
• Uninstall: Removing the app from your device deletes all local data associated with it.

5. Children's Privacy

This app is not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided personal information through the app, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.

6. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the app's functionality or applicable laws. When we do, the "Last updated" date at the top of this page will be revised. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
